What is an Obi?
The obi is a wide, traditional Japanese belt worn with kimonos during ceremonies or special events. A true symbol of refinement, it is an essential element of traditional Japanese clothing. By reusing obi scraps to create our caps, we offer you the opportunity to wear a piece of Japanese history, while giving new life to meaningful materials.
The Sensu to Kumo motif
The Sensu to Kumo (扇と雲) motif combines the elegant image of the traditional Japanese fan ( sensu ) with the softness of stylized clouds ( kumo ), two strong elements of Japanese aesthetics. The fan, often associated with traditional arts such as dance or Noh theater, symbolizes growth and openness, as it fanned out from a central point. As for the clouds, they represent change, impermanence, and connection with the sky.
In this pattern, curved shapes and warm, golden hues create a harmony between movement and calm. On our cap, the Sensu to Kumo pattern evokes both dynamism and serenity, bringing a poetic and sophisticated touch inspired by Japanese textile art.
